The worker shortage has affective a plethora of businesses, and the Rochester City School District is no exception. Yesterday, district leaders held a meeting along with some community partners, including Mayor-elect Malik Evans, to talk about ideas on how to recruit people looking for jobs. In addition to the search for workers, RSCD is also seeking more e fathers to volunteer in the Fathers Initiating Restorative Engagement (F.I.R.E.) program. FIRE has dads serving as positive role models for students at school during arrival, lunch, and dismissal times.

RCSD Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small stated: “The pandemic really just upturned a lot of what we know. Careers and working is certainly a part of that. We are hoping the salary is attractive- the rate of pay. But everyone is facing a staffing shortage and it’s not just Rochester – it’s not just Monroe county.”
