Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been recently coming forward to share their side of their exit from the royal family. As Prince Harry gets ready for his memoir to be released to the public today, he sat down with U.K. television station ITV’s Tom Bradby on Sunday, January 8th, to clear up any confusion regarding racism and the Royal Family.

Bradby asked Prince Harry about the Oprah interview, in which they “ accuse members of the royal family of racism.” The Duke of Sussex quickly responded No, with the follow up; “The British press said that, right? Did Meghan ever mention ‘they’re racists’?” Bradby followed up by saying the pair express that there we troubling comments about Archie, their son, skin color and ask if he would consider that racism.

This was Prince Harry’s response: “I wouldn’t. Not having lived within that family…The difference between racism and unconscious bias…the two things are different. Once it’s been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you, therefore, have an opportunity to learn and grow from that…otherwise, unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism.”
