The BET Awards 2020 show, aired on Sunday, June 28th, televised a brand new video by DaBaby for ROCKSTAR Black Lives Matter remix featuring Best New Artist winner Roddy Ricch.
The theme to this video is immediately clear. Black Lives Matter. With all that’s going on with protesting about Domestic Terrorism by police officers, it was refreshing to see Hip-Hop display a work of art in this way. The idea seems rare for anything this relevant and vivid to penetrate mainstream society these days. This year has definitely seen a few changes.
The video starts off with DaBaby laying on the ground with his hands behind his back and someone holding him down with their knee on his neck. That’s a view the world is very familiar with at this point, visually referencing the George Floyd arrest in Minneapolis.
