Potential RCSD Elementary School Teacher Layoffs

Some layoffs could be coming to the Rochester City School District teachers. The district’s Invest in Tomorrow reconfiguration plan calls for closing several schools and moving hundreds of students. At first, the Rochester Teachers Association was told more than 50 elementary teacher jobs could be cut in September. After Tuesday night’s school board meeting, that number of impacted teaching jobs could now be 27. RTA President Adam Urbanski said retirements and resignations allowed for fewer job cuts. Nearly all RCSD students should now have their assignments for September. The RTA is advising anyone with questions to call the district’s placement Office at 262-8241.
