This week, people living in the Pines of Perinton housing and members of Being Black in the Burbs attended Perinton’s town board meeting demanding needed change.
After a fire that occurred in January 2022, the housing development was promised a $137 million renovation last spring. However, residents have reported that their initial optimism has been replaced by frustration, citing poor living conditions at the Pines, such as non-functional utilities and unsuccessful inspections.
Tiffany Porter, whose parents live at the Pines of Perinton, stated: “Any other homeowner they will cite for little things. They are the only ones that can hold this company accountable, and we want them to do that.”
According to the Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna, along with code enforcement, are expected to meet with the developer, Winn Companies, next week.
