The Pentagon released a statement saying the were sending the 900 remaining active duty troops back to their home bases in North Carolina and New York. These soldiers were stationed near the capital region on standby orders and were not actually deployed into the city.
Sources say that enough National Guard troops are present and there is no need for the extra standby units.
This order comes after the pentagon sent home 700 active duty servicemen and women on Thursday.
There are now around 5000 national guard members in or around Washington D.C. ready to assist city police units.
The increased law enforcement presence is a result of shops being vandalized and looted last weekend because of vandalism after peaceful protests for the murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis.
