Parents of eighth graders in the Churchville-Chili School District are upset after their children unknowingly consumed cannabis-laced gummies at school and are facing serious disciplinary actions.
The students were offered the gummies, which resembled candy, by a classmate. Parents received calls from the school nurse informing them their children were high after eating the THC-infused gummies.
Following this, they were notified by the principal about a week-long in-school suspension and a hearing to determine further consequences.
The classmate who provided the gummies admitted the others were unaware of the THC content.
Parents are concerned about the long-term impact on their children’s reputations and academic standings, particularly highlighting that one child is an honor roll student who does not deserve this situation.
