Outdoor Dining to Return in Phase 2 of Reopening Procedure

Written by on June 5, 2020

According to a press release from Governor Andrew Cuomo,
“COVID-19 is still a real threat and we’re still battling it. I know it’s not on the front pages today, but it is still in people and in society, but thanks to the people of New York and the nurses, doctors and essential workers, today we have the lowest number of hospitalizations ever and we have the lowest death toll ever. We are continuously evaluating activities that can be safely reopened, and today we are adding outdoor seating at restaurants to phase two.”
Social distancing measures will be implemented and be visible in the form of tables being 6 feet apart, restaurant staff wearing face masks and customers wearing face masks until they are seated.
Many restaurants do not currently have the proper permits that lawfully allow for outdoor seating. In the Town of Greece, temporary permits will allow them to have permission until things are back to normal according to Town Supervisor Bill Reilich. The rest of Rochester should catch up soon.
Indoor seating could possibly begin as soon as June 12, when phase 3 is expected to come into full effect.
