‘Operation Lightspeed’ Campaign Kicks of as Rochester Organization Aim to Improve Vaccination Rates in Specific Zip Codes

Operation Lightspeed, a door-to-door campaign from The Vineyard Farm and Outdoor Center For Excellence, was announced yesterday to bring aid to specific zip codes in Rochester. More than 1,000 volunteers will deliver COVID kits, including PPE supplies, to more than 4,500 households in the 14605. The 14605 is one of two Rochester-area zip codes among the lowest vaccination rates in the state.

Sr. Marsha from The Vineyard Farm and Outdoor Center For Excellence stated; “We’re in an existential threat in our zip code. We can say that 75% of the state has one of the vaccines, but those are not our numbers. So, we have to fight. And, we have to lead like the house is on fire and that’s the motivation this team has. We know it’s on fire…In them are masks, a digital thermometer, those things cost $4. People who have very limited resources aren’t going to spend $4.”
