NYC Northwell Health Nurse Arrive in Rochester to Provide Staff Support

Written by on December 13, 2021

In order to help combat the staffing issues in hospitals, nurses from Northwell Health in New York City arrived to support Strong Memorial Hospital by taking on patient care duties in the hospital’s ED and ICU. Yesterday, a cohort of eight Northwell Health Nurses and an administrative support team member began their work at the hospital. Now that Strong has received this extra help, it will allow them to expand patient care capacity during a COVID surge that is pressuring hospitals across western New York.

Rochester’s relationship with Northwell Health dates back to April 2020, as hospitals in the New York City area were overburdened by the first wave of COVID. Back then, URMC sent a team of Emergency Medicine professionals to Northwell to help workers with the surge in COVID cases.
