NY Man Faces Multiple Charges After Accused of Faking COVID Tests

Ajani Shaw from Staten Island has been arrested since he has been accused of faking positive COVID test results to obtain workers’ compensation. According to the NY Office of the Inspector General, the 23-year-old New Yorker has been accused of faking 6 positive test results resulting in weeks of quarantine as well as almost $2,000 in benefits. Shaws’ charges include grand larceny, insurance fraud, falsifying business records, and 7 counts of workers’ compensation fraud.
Inspector General Lang stated: “Workers’ Compensation insurance is essential to the success of our state’s workforce and businesses, and all the more so during times of crisis. Thanks to our partners at the Staten Island District Attorney’s Office for helping ensure the integrity of this vital safety net.”
