NOTORIOUS LIFE

March 9th is the day we celebrate the life of the late Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. A man known for poetry in verbal motion. Here’s one of my favorite lines he recited in a song entitled “(You To Be)Be Happy” by R. Kelly. It was released in 1995 around the time he and his then wife, singer Faith Evans were having a bad time.
“Sittin’, reminiscin’ on when ya started dissin’, spittin’ in faces in public places. Rolex with wood faces had you dripping for months. Made some dough, did some shows, now you starting to front. Smokin’ blunts on The Veranda with Amanda. She’s filling your head with ‘he said, she said’… ‘Papa doing this, Papa doing that’ but, don’t tell him I said it ’cause my Jeep might get wetted. Forget it. Go on, take her word like the Quran. Y’all stay friends, I’ll stay and smoke filled benzes. I regret putting you on to baguettes, honeysuckle sets, Vicki Secret pajama sets. You were the Reebok Vandal, now you wear Chanel sandals. I made you, why would I play you? Think about it while the streets, you roam. It’s Don P’s and Crysties in the fridge when you get home.”
