New York State Thruway Says Get EZ-Pass or Pay 30% More
Written by Tariq on October 13, 2020
New York State Thruway tolls will be cashless, by the end of the year. The Thruway Authority has already built dozens of gantries that will track travel either by E-ZPass or reading license plates. New York State is pushing hard for drivers without E-ZPass to get them through an advertising campaign that includes signs on the Thruway. Those who don’t have an E-ZPass will pay 30 percent higher tolls and a $2 surcharge for each bill sent through the mail.
The Thruway Authority is hosting three virtual public hearings on cashless tolling. They will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13; 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14; and 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. To Stream Public Hearing Click Here
