Written by on February 12, 2022

It has only been one month since New York State has legalized mobile sports betting and it has become evident that it rakes in the money. In the month of January, New York brought in $1.6 billion in bets and since New York State collects a 51% tax on overall revenue from mobile sports betting, that is nearly $60 million.

Lead Analyst for PlayNY, Mike Mazzeo, stated: “It’s not a surprise because New Yorkers wanted to get into the mobile sports wagering world. They just were waiting for us to be able to open our app…We’re only touching the surface, there’s a long way to go here.”
