New York couple find safe containing $100k in lake

James Kane and Barbie Agostini, a couple from New York, made an extraordinary find while magnet fishing in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. During their usual activity of trailing a strong magnet through the lake, they pulled up a safe containing an estimated $100,000 in water-damaged $100 bills. Upon contacting the police, they were informed that the safe wasn’t linked to any crime, allowing them to keep the money. The couple, who started magnet fishing during the Covid-19 pandemic, have previously discovered items like World War Two grenades, nineteenth-century guns, and a motorbike. Despite the cash being heavily damaged, the discovery was a significant and surprising addition to their magnet fishing adventures.
