Netflix Plans To Roll Out Cheaper Plan

Written by on October 15, 2022

As a Netflix subscriber, it seems like the cost keeps getting higher and higher. Now, the company is rolling out a more affordable plan for those looking to lower the cost/sign up. In November, Netflix will offer the Basic with Ads plan, including 15-to-30-second ads before and during shows and films, as well as have a smaller selection of content due to licensing restrictions. Ads will appear, on average, for a total of four to five minutes per hour. The cost will be $6.99 per month. Users of the new plan will not be able to download content to watch offline.

This news comes after Netflix has shown a significant drop in subscribers this past year. Netflix lost as many as 200,000 in this year’s first quarter. The streaming giant laid off at least 150 employees and dozens of contractors and part-time workers in May.
