National Guard Arrives to Help Rochester

Written by on December 4, 2021

As of yesterday, New York’s State of emergency entered into effect as the National Guard moved in. Now that the National Guard has arrived, hospitals can pause elective surgeries to make room for an influx of COVID patients. Starting today, National Guard members will be stationed at Monroe Community Hospital.

In a statement, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello stated: “So, when we talk about hospital capacity, when we talk about bed space for folks who really need it – this is one area where we can make a difference. This will be evaluated every day obviously, as we go. And if this is the appropriate level, then it is or we continue to ask for more.”
