Nashville Declares A State Of Emergency After Flash Floods Turn Deadly

Written by on March 29, 2021

Saturday night, Nashville Mayor John Cooper signed executive orders that put the city into a state of emergency after flash flooding killed at least 4 people.

He followed up by tweeting:

“We send our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the four Nashvillians who died in last night’s flooding,” Cooper said in separate post on Twitter. “Metro’s first responders have worked tirelessly following the city’s second-highest ever two-day rainfall, which flooded neighborhoods across the county.”

Reports indicate that the flooding from Saturday into Sunday left people clinging to trees and having to stay in their attics in order to escape the rising water.

Nashville first responders and rescue teams ended up pulling around 130 people from homes and vehicles on Sunday morning.
