Monroe County Raises Wages For Hourly Workers To $15

Written by on May 17, 2021

Monroe County will raise wages beginning January 1, 2022. Hourly workers will make a minimum of $15 per hour.

The wage rise was slowed by the pandemic but now shows wage equity and shows county employees’ work is a priority. County Executive Adam Bello made the announcement Monday. He also said the COVID-19 pandemic slowed the decision.

Contractors hired by the county will also receive the same pay rate by their employer. During the conference, Bello said, “No longer can we take our employees and their talent experience for granted, no longer should we ask our employees to commit to us and give us their best without doing the same in return.”
