Monroe County Public Defenders Filed to Unionize
Written by Site Hub on August 24, 2022
Monroe County public defenders have filed to form a union to improve services and avoid being used as a pawn in political conflicts, according to representatives. Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says he supports the right of the attorneys to “unionize and advocate for their working conditions and their clients.” He goes on to say: “The Public Defender’s office performs a vital service to represent and defend the underserved and those who can least afford representation. My administration has an outstanding relationship with each of our county employee unions and I welcome the new union once established. If the productivity and professionalism of our county unionized workforce is any measure, Monroe County residents will be well served by the new Public Defender’s office union.”
