Monroe County Offers Free Rapid PCR COVID-19 Tests for Children

Written by on October 16, 2021

Yesterday, Monroe County began scheduling free, rapid PCR tests for K-12 students at the County Fleet Center, 145 Paul Road. The PCR tests are available via appointment only and are a drive-through, paperless transaction, offering the non-invasive nasal swab. Children seeking this test must be symptom-free without any fever-reducing medication for 24 hours, not be under quarantine or isolation orders, and be enrolled in a K-12 school. Their results will be ready within hours, and the testing hours are from 9 am to 12 pm.

County Executive Adam Bello stated: “We launched this site as a way to recognize that many parents of students are having difficulty getting tests in a timely manner. Reduce the current burden on our local pediatricians who are overwhelmed right now with testing requests since the school year started.”
