Some good news especially if you are a teen and are looking for a summer job! New York State has officially raised the minimum wage for fast-food workers. The minimum wage increased to $15 per hour as of Thursday.
At the beginning of the year, the minimum wage increased to $14.50 outside of New York City for fast-food workers. New York State will eventually raise minimum wage all across the board but for now, this is only for fast-food workers. The goal is to continuously raise the minimum wage each year overall in New York State.
Most places outside of NYC are at $12.50 and some areas downstate are at $14 per hour. The Commissioner of Labor will release information on the next minimum wage rate in October 2021.
