According to officials in New Hanover County, Virginia, the NBA champion Michael Jordan has donated over $10 million to open two medical clinics that will help the uninsured or underinsured residents in his hometown.

Jordan gave a statement, saying:

“Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life.”

Novant Health, a regional healthcare provider, says that the new clinics should be up and running by 2022.
