2025 is starting off on a good note for Americans and their credit report. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau just finalized a new rule barring medical debt from being included on your credit report.
The final rule will stop medical bills from being included in credit reports that lenders use, and it will also ban lenders from considering medical information in their decision-making processes.
The CFPB estimates that this rule will eliminate $49 billion in medical bills from the credit reports of approximately 15 million Americans.
