Mayor Of D.C. Wants US Military To Back Off

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is demanding President Donald Trump remove the hundreds of US military forces that are stationed outside the city.
The troops were deployed by the President as his way of “dominating the streets.” TThe presence of the active duty military has been clouding the chain of command and increasing tensions between the city and federal government.
Mayor Bowser has mentioned that the metropolitan police force is more than capable of handling the protestors and there is no longer a need for federal intervention.
As of June 3rd there were no arrests made in connection with the protests against the murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis, so the mayor is also recommending the state of emergency be lifted.
Mayor Bowser has taken a firm stance on the matter and is quoted, saying: “Know this, at no time is the mayor going to support the federal government directing MPD.”
