Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day.  I know you can get around in Rochester by car in 20 min so  guess you can attend both Monday January 15th 2024

 

The Greater Rochester Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will be hosting an event with the Eastman School of Music at 26 Gibbs Street  Downtown Rochester. There will be performances by local artists and the Martin Luther King Jr. Choir.

Time: 9AM – 10:30AM

For those looking to attend an event later in the afternoon, from 11AM to 3PM, the Rochester Museum & Science Center at 657 East Ave.

 1199SEIU will hold their 43rd Annual MLK Celebration at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) on Monday, January 15th at 11AM.  This year’s theme is “We Come This Far By Faith.”

The program will include performances by Robert Ricks’ group – “Mentors Inspiring Boys & Girls,” Community Activist Anthony Hall and other performances to celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  A representative from Governor Hochul’s office will also present a proclamation.

The keynote speech will be given by Mayor Malik Evans with remarks by New York State Assemblymember Demond Meeks.

The celebration will feature music, poetry, and dance.  This event is free and open to the public.
