Written by on May 19, 2021

Definitely going to watch this two-part special honoring the 100th Anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The special will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The Legacy of Black Wall Street will tell the story of the rise of Black Wall Street up until the Tulsa massacre. The Tulsa race massacre destroyed the 36 block business center in the Oklahoma Greenwood District. The special connects the Black pioneers of today and the Black pioneers from 100 years ago from that area.

It will follow the lives of 5 pioneers who were in the Greenwood District in the early 1900s. Loula Williams, Augusta Stradford, Andrew C. Jackson, Drusilla Dunjee Houston, and A.J. Smitherman.

The special is set to air Tuesday, June 1, and Tuesday, June, 8 on OWN at 9 pm and it will also air on discovery+.
