The Marcy Correctional Facility is facing backlash following the fatal beating of inmate Robert Brooks, who was serving time for a Monroe County assault. The facility has been involved in multiple lawsuits alleging violence by correctional officers. Notably, one officer linked to Brooks’ death was also named in a lawsuit by Adam Bauer, an inmate who alleged he was “viciously assaulted” by multiple officers in 2020 while serving time for a non-violent drug crime, just months from his release.
