The Rochester City School District may be facing another educational crisis with children in kindergarten. Test are showing that most of the kids in kindergarten show signs of possible developmental delays.
About 1000 kindergarteners were tested and most of them were flagged for formal evaluation according to an article recently published by WXXI.
The test that were given identified possible delays in children for speech, hearing, vision, language, and motor skills. Some other important skills that showed possible delays are social-emotional skills and cognitive development.
Around 66% of the kids screened via Brigance scored at Level 1 which is low. Only 3% tested at Level 4 which is considered as “gifted”.
