Malcolm X College to host annual Kwanzaa celebration

Malcolm X College in Chicago is hosting its annual Kwanzaa celebration from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025. This free, week-long event celebrates African-American culture and the principles of Kwanzaa, offering a mix of cultural programming, live performances, and a marketplace featuring local artisans and vendors.

Daily activities include a Drum Call, Libation ceremony, a presentation on Kwanzaa’s daily principle, and live performances by groups like Najwa Dance Corps, Moya Cultural Arts, and Ayodele Drum and Dance. Two special honorees will be recognized: Ms. Zenobia Black on December 27 and U.S. Representative Danny Davis on January 1.

The marketplace will showcase handmade jewelry, African clothing, art, and more, promoting local Black businesses. The event emphasizes community, unity, and cultural appreciation, reflecting the seven principles of Kwanzaa.
