Low Latitude Auroras May Be Visible Tonight

Tonight, the Northern Lights might be visible as far south as Oregon and Pennsylvania.
The phenomena is a result of the sun expelling a massive “solar belch” that shot highly charged corona material out and sent it hurtling across the solar system.
The charged particles and energy hit our atmosphere last night and should be visible later tonight as well.
Solar storms can sometimes make radios crackle and disrupt communication devices like GPS signals. NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center says that the potential exists for strong storm levels “if the magnetic field carried with the CME connects well with Earth’s magnetosphere.”
