Local healthcare system adds new walk-in services for SARS-CoV-2

Written by on May 13, 2020

Trillium Health has announced that it has set up a SARS-CoV-2 testing site designed specifically for walk-in patients. People who haven’t made an appointment can receive COVID-19 testing services between 9 a.m and 4 p.m. EDT in a white tent in the parking lot at the southeast side of Trillium Health’s downtown Rochester facility at 259 Monroe Avenue. The tent is accessible from both Monroe Avenue and Alexander Street.

Patients who suspect that they might have the virus don’t need to go inside the building. Trillium Health has made outdoor greeters available to direct walk-in patients to the tent.

Trillium Health still prefers that patients make appointments prior to visiting the location. Anyone who believes that they might have the virus can speak with a registered nurse via a hotline at 585-545-7292 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday.

That said, the Monroe Avenue testing site will accept anyone who shows up as long as they have symptoms of the virus or they are an essential worker or a presumptive case based on contact with someone else who had symptoms. Patients must also be at least 16 years of age to receive services.
