Local Grocery Stores Stock Up While Preparing For Second Wave Of Coronavirus

Written by on November 6, 2020

Local grocery stores are gearing up for the second wave of coronavirus as winter creeps closer.

When COVID-19 first hit, people were lining up outside of the stores, hoping to get in and stock up on essentials like disinfectants and toilet paper.

After the peak, when things began to calm down, shelves began filling back up again and stores returned to normal.

Now that cold weather is forcing people back inside and cases are growing all over the country, grocery stores are getting ready for the second wave .

According to Sarah DePeters, vice president of grocery/dairy/frozen merchandising for Wegmans:

“What the grocery industry experienced in March was unlike anything we had ever seen before. To ensure we have options available for customers in every category, we have spent the last several months sourcing additional suppliers, bringing in new brands and working with our Wegmans-brand suppliers to build up our holiday and winter reserves.”
