Lizzo Receives the 2023 Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award

The 2023 Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award has been awarded to Lizzo.
At 35, the singer is being recognized for her generous contributions to charitable causes and her dedication to social justice. Throughout her career, Lizzo has championed and financially supported several organizations, notably donating over $500,000 to groups like Black Girls Smile and The Bail Project.
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling to reverse Roe v. Wade, Lizzo made a resounding statement by pledging $1 million to both Planned Parenthood and the National Network of Abortion Funds.
However, this award comes amidst legal challenges. Together with her production entity, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., and her dance team lead, Shirlene Quigley, are facing accusations from past dancers alleging a negative workplace environment.
