Jonathan Majors ‘Heartbroken’ Over Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Replacing Kang

Jonathan Majors expressed heartbreak over the news that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will replace his character, Kang the Conqueror, as the main villain in the upcoming “Avengers” films. Majors, who was dropped by Marvel in December after being found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault, was initially set to play a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Kang in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” This film has now been replaced by “Avengers: Doomsday,” starring Downey.
Majors acknowledged his disappointment, stating his love for the character Kang but also praising Doctor Doom. Despite his legal troubles, Majors expressed a willingness to return to the MCU if desired by fans and Marvel. He contrasted his situation with Downey’s, noting that Downey received patience and support following his own past legal issues. Majors was arrested in March 2023 on assault and harassment charges but was found not guilty of two additional charges. Following his arrest, he was dropped by his talent manager and publicity firm. Downey’s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom was announced at Comic-Con, with appearances set for 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday” and 2027’s “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
