We’re inching closer to the end of the year, and that means more and more high school seniors are looking for a new home in higher education. Thanks to the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center, these students had more than 65 options to choose from!
The WDKX Jam Squad was thankful for the opportunity to attend and bring awareness to the REOC College Fair 2019 at Rochester’s Blue Cross Arena on Tuesday, October 1st. The event went from 6pm until 8pm and saw hundreds of high school juniors and seniors come through the doors, they literally showed up in bus loads!
There were representatives from colleges all over the country! Of course all the local institutions were in attendance, including the University of Rochester, Nazareth College, RIT, St. John Fisher and more. However, there were also some out of state colleges in attendance, like Penn State University, to give the students more variety in their choices. All the SUNY schools showed up as well.
We had a great time talking to the students about their choices as well as sharing some valuable knowledge about our own college experiences. We also registered some of them, and their parents, for our various raffles. My favorite parts of the night were the countless times students came up to our table saying, “WDKX!??!? You’re not a college!”
Overall, this event had a great turn out. Good luck to all the students pursuing college, we know you’ll be great!
P.S. Shout out to Kayla McClary for winning a pair of tickets to see Fantasia and Robin Thicke in The Sketchbook Tour, coming to Buffalo on Thursday, October 24th.
Another shout out goes to Brooke Bagley who will be going to see Post Malone and Swae Lee in the Runaway Tour this Sunday in Buffalo! Have fun!
