The WDKX Jam Squad had the pleasure of being part of the city of Rochester’s annual Christmas event, Bringing Christmas Downtown 2019!

Every December, the city of Rochester comes together with local community organizations to help provide Christmas gifts and winter coats to families in the community in need. Everyone meets at City Hall to greet the families and pass out toys and coats. This community event even featured free pictures with Santa Clause! ??

This all begins with a month long coat and toy drive, where Rochester residents are encouraged to drop of new and gently used coats and unwrapped toys to City Hall. In fact, the WDKX Jam Squad hosted our own coat drive just last night at The Blow Dry Lounge. This initiative was aimed at collecting any last minute donations from listeners to be given away at the Christmas event the next day.

Thanks to Felicia Fracassi, owner of Fracassi Lashes and The Blow Dry Lounge, and Jazzy T’s Hustle For Health, we were able to provide a great incentive for people to donate. Not only did each donated coat get you a pair of tickets to Step Jam 2019 from Jazzy T, but you could also register to win a FREE silk press form The Blow Dry Lounge!

This brought out so many donors who gave coats, hats, gloves, sweaters and unwrapped toys. Fast forward to the next day at the Bringing Christmas Downtown event, we were able to contribute to the cause, and have a great time in the process!

We danced, laughed, took tons of pictures and we met SANTA! ?? Of course, you know we had to bring our own giveaways for the community as well, we even gave away a few more pairs of tickets to Step Jam 2019!

Overall, this was a successful event. So many members of the community came out to support, volunteer or partake in the festivities. It was so nice to see the smiling faces of all the children who received coats and new toys. Can’t wait for Bringing Christmas Downtown 2020! ?
