The Irondequoit Town Board held its first full meeting following a sexual harassment investigation involving Town Supervisor Andrae Evans.
The 34-page report, released earlier this month, details suggestive language and other inappropriate behaviors attributed to Evans.
Tensions escalated before the meeting started, with community members arriving with supportive signs.
When Evans asked Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters to remove the signs, Peters upheld the citizens’ First Amendment rights, leading to a standoff.
The meeting proceeded to a public input session, where residents could share their opinions. Additionally, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley is conducting a separate investigation into Evans’ actions.
