Inside look: Plans for Bull’s Head revitalization project in Rochester
Written by Site Hub on January 30, 2024
In January, Rochester was introduced to the redevelopment plans for the Bull’s Head neighborhood by Dawson Co. and its subsidiary, DevelopROC. The redevelopment encompasses the area around West Main Street, Genesee Street, Chili Avenue, West Avenue, and Brown Street. The ambitious plan includes market-rate and affordable housing, commercial spaces, urban farming, a grocery store, and green spaces, aiming for a total of 800 units. An ESL branch is expected to be the first tenant. Rochester Regional Health and St. Mary’s Hospital are among the key partners. Additionally, U.S. Ceiling Corp plans to relocate its headquarters to Bull’s Head, moving 100 jobs to Rochester. Feedback from the community emphasized the importance of maintaining an open, walkable area with safe routes for biking and walking, ensuring that new constructions blend with the neighborhood’s existing character. The next public meeting is scheduled for February 27, with demolition and construction activities slated to begin in the spring.
