How To Report a Positive on a Rapid At-Home COVID Test
Written by Site Hub on December 31, 2021
As COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing, rapid at-home tests are being heavily distributed by school districts and are available at some stores. While many who are testing positive are also seeking a confirmation PCR or antigen test – the results of which are more accurate but take longer, many are wondering what do you do if you test positive on a rapid test.
Monroe County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza stated: “We want to preserve the health care workforce as much as we can and at the same time we’re going to try to work with businesses and other employer settings to see if we can find a way around needing that ‘confirmation test’ but the challenge is that a home test is not sufficient to give proof for those kinds of purposes because they happen in an unmonitored setting at home but from a clinical and a public health standpoint you should rely on the tests that you do have at home for the positive result.”
