New York voters overwhelmingly believe the recent influx of migrants in the state is a serious problem, according to a Siena College poll released Tuesday morning. The poll found 82% of voters found the migrant situation that has plagued the state since May to be a serious problem, with a slim majority — 54% — calling it “very serious.” Also a majority — 58% — say that New Yorkers have already done enough and should now work to slow the flow of migrants, the poll found. A plurality of voters also said that migrants resettling in New York over the last 20 years or so has been a “burden,” not a “benefit” to the state. Regarding Gov. Kathy Hochul, the poll found voters disapprove 51-35% of the job she is doing to address the migrant situation, while New York City Mayor Eric Adams gets a 47-31% disapproval rating. The Biden administration also gets an underwater rating of 59-34% disapproval, according to the poll.
