Hollywood Filmmakers Put Health Before Production

Written by on May 31, 2020

Big names in Hollywood are refusing to make films again until the COVID-19 pandemic is under control. This comes as no surprise, as movie projectors are gathering dust in closed theaters across the nation.

When asked when he would be making new films, Producer Spike Lee said “They ain’t doing a thing until the vaccine. I know I’m not going to a movie theater. I know I’m not going to a Broadway show. I know I’m not going to Yankee Stadium.”

A Hollywood movie production has many moving parts, and most of them are held by people. People who work long hours in close proximity to each other on sets that can sometimes be very small, depending on the scene.

The pandemic has also greatly affected ticket sales, as movie theaters have same indoor conditions that could result in the transmission of the virus.

Until COVID-19 is stopped, there is a good chance that the film industry will continue to take an economic hit unless Hollywood finds alternative ways to produce its movies.
