High Falls Could Become A State Park

Could High Falls become a state park?
Yep! It looks like it may actually happen. High Falls State Park is going to be a multi-year, multi-phase effort to create the State Park. The park will not be easy to build because of the contamination. Before building the park, there would have to be a massive clean-up of the area to make sure it’s safe for the public. The areas at High Falls have primarily been used for utility generation.
As far as what will be included in the park has still not been decided however Visit Rochester said the 96 ft tall waterfall will be a big attraction to Downtown.
Now being raised in Rochester and knowing the area I know this project will take a LOT of money. An incredible amount of money to make this park “spectacular” so where is the money coming from? A budget has not yet been passed for this project.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has pledged $6 million to help fund the design of the park. After the budget is passed and the designers have been selected the community will be able to give their input on what they want in the park.
