Grab Your Mask! Mask Mandate in NY Starts Monday
Written by Site Hub on December 11, 2021
Yesterday, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced a statewide mask mandate that will require masks in all indoor public places. Businesses that have a vaccine requirement will not have to enforce this rule. Businesses and venues that implement a proof of vaccination requirement can accept Excelsior Pass, Excelsior Pass Plus, SMART Health Cards issued outside of New York State, or a CDC Vaccination Card. The mandate will begin Monday.
Governor Hochul state: “We’re entering a time of uncertainty, and we could either plateau here or our cases could escalate beyond control. We’re heading upward in a direction that I find is no longer sustainable…I have warned for weeks that additional steps could be necessary, and now we are at that point based upon three metrics: Increasing cases, reduced hospital capacity, and insufficient vaccination rates in certain areas.”
