Yesterday New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, State Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett, and Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin held a COVID-19 briefing. In this briefing, Governor Hochul stated that the state has ordered an additional one million COVID-19 tests which will be distributed to schools and county health departments in the coming week. Hochul has also shared that the White House recently quadrupled the capacity for at-home tests. According to Hochul, private insurance companies are now required to cover the cost of the at-home kit.

Governor Kathy Hochul stated: “They have approved 13 manufacturers of this [at-home test], so there should be more supplies on the shelves, this continues to drive the price point down.”
