Governor Kathy Hochul Ends Mask Mandates for Businesses

Written by on February 10, 2022

Starting today, New York will be joining other states on dropping the mask mandate for businesses. However, there is still a mandate for buses, trains, subways, planes, subways, at domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, state-regulated health care, and adult care facilities, jails, and schools. While the mandate ends today, counties, cities, and businesses can make their own decisions on whether to require them.

When it comes to public schools, Governor Hochul said that after February break, the state will make an assessment on whether to change the school mask mandate. The mandate will only be lifted the first week in March “as long as the latest metrics advise.” Parents will be provided with testing kits.
