Governor Hochul Announced C.A.R.S.

Governor Kathy Hochul visited Rochester on Friday to announce a strategy aimed at curbing the escalating car thefts. She has named the effort the Comprehensive Auto-theft Reduction Strategy, aka C.A.R.S.
This initiative is built around five central pillars: prevention, enforcement, legal action, safeguarding consumers, and raising awareness. The strategy encompasses a $50 million funding to provide state law enforcement with advanced tools to deter vehicle thefts. Monroe County is set to benefit from $5 million.
