‘Glee’ Actress Naya Rivera is missing and presumed dead.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s office announced Thursday that search and rescue efforts have switched over to a recovery operation to bring Rivera’s body back to her family.
The 33-year-old actress best known for her role of cheerleader “Santana” in the hit TV show “Glee”, went missing after taking her son out for a boat ride and swim in Southern California.
She rented a platoon around 1pm Wednesday at Lake Piru. Three hours later, when the boat was due back at the docks, another boater found Rivera’s son Josey sleeping alone on the boat. The 4-year-old boy told officials his mommy never came out of the water. An adult life jacket was found on the boat, suggesting Rivera was not wearing one during their swim.
Josey was reunited with his father, actor Ryan Dorsey.
80 people were involved in the search, using boats and dive teams, helicopters, drones and ATVs to try and find the actress.
Venture County officer Chris Dyer told reporter that his office is now presuming Rivera drowned in the lake.
“There’s no sign of foul play, no signs of anything that went wrong besides a tragic accident” Dyer added.
