George Floyd Biopic Is In The Works

A biopic titled “Daddy Changed the World,” centered on the life of George Floyd, is currently in development, with his daughter Gianna Floyd and her mother Roxie Washington serving as executive producers. The film, produced by Queens Film & Media Productions and Night Fox Entertainment, will have a screenplay written by Gregory R. Anderson, known for “Stomp the Yard.” Producers include Ted Field, Dr. Kaeita Rankin, and Timothy Christian.

Roxie Washington expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing its potential to humanize Floyd and support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. She highlighted the importance of justice and equality, hoping the film will reignite efforts for systemic change.

Night Fox’s Timothy Christian and Dr. Kaeita Rankin emphasized the significance of telling Floyd’s story to inspire positive change and address injustices faced by marginalized communities.

George Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020, at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who knelt on his neck for over nine minutes, sparked nationwide protests against police brutality. Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter in April 2021 and received a 22-year sentence.
