George Eastman House Museum Commemorates New Visitor Center

Written by on October 9, 2020

The George Eastman House just cut the ribbon on the new Thomas Tischer Visitor Center.

The visitor center will serve as a central hub and entrance to the museum, cafe, gift shop and Dryden Theatre.

It will be open to the general public on Saturday, right when the museum opens back up to the public.

The funding came from several sources, including the namesake of the new center, retired Kodak research chemist Thomas Tischer, who contributed over $1 million. Other sources include a state grant, private donations from foundations and individuals as well as corporate help.

Tisher gave a statement that said:

“I had the privilege to be a part of this project from its very beginning and am thrilled with the final results that we celebrate today. It has always been my desire to support the museum’s continued evolution, and by doing so I am proud to play a part in honoring the extraordinary legacy of George Eastman.”
